Location Data Policy
Location Data Policy
Effective 30 July 2026How Place Bubble uses your location, and how to turn it off.
This policy explains how TimeBubble handles location data. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers everything else.
1. When location is used
- Location is used by one feature only: Place Bubble, which creates a bubble based on where you are and shows it on a map.
- No other part of the Service uses your location.
2. What we collect and how
| What we collect | The latitude and longitude of your device |
| How we collect it | Your device's GPS or other positioning services, and network information from your connectivity provider |
| When we collect it | Only at the moment you create or view a Place Bubble |
| Accuracy | Depends on your device and its settings |
- We do not track you in the background. Location is read only while you are actively using Place Bubble.
- Collecting location requires a permission granted through your device's operating system. That permission is yours to give or refuse.
- We do not charge for location features. Your mobile data charges are a matter between you and your network provider.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
We use location data only to:
- create a Place Bubble at your current position; and
- display Place Bubbles on a map.
Our legal basis is your consent, given when you grant location permission. You can withdraw it at any time — see section 6. Withdrawal does not affect anything we did before you withdrew.
4. How long we keep it
| The position reading itself | Deleted immediately once the Place Bubble has been created or displayed. We do not store it. |
| The place attached to a saved Place Bubble | Until you delete that bubble or close your account |
Where the law requires us to keep something for longer, we keep it separately from everything else and only for as long as required.
5. Who we share it with
- We do not sell your location data, and we do not share it for advertising, profiling or analytics.
- We do not provide your location to any third party you have not asked us to. If we ever offer such a feature, we will tell you who received your location, when, and why, each time it happens.
- Location data is not sent to our AI feature or to any AI provider.
- We may disclose location data only where the law requires it.
6. Turning location off
You can withdraw location permission at any time:
- iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > TimeBubble
- Android: Settings > Apps > TimeBubble > Permissions > Location
Once you do, we stop collecting location. You will no longer be able to create new Place Bubbles, but every other part of TimeBubble continues to work normally. Place Bubbles you have already saved can be removed individually in the app, or by closing your account.
7. Where location data is stored
Location attached to a saved Place Bubble is stored on our servers in the Republic of Korea. The Republic of Korea has been recognised by the European Commission and by the UK government as providing an adequate level of data protection, so no additional transfer safeguards are required for users in the EEA or the UK.
8. Children
The Service is not for children under 16, so this policy does not apply to them.
9. How we protect it
- Encryption in transit
- Access limited to those who need it, with access logging
- Prompt deletion once the purpose has been met
10. Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the location data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or ask us to stop using it. If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to object, to portability, and to complain to your supervisory authority. If you are a California resident you have the rights described in our Privacy Policy. Contact contact@hansei.team.
